Ah yes ... There she is! That VIXEN! That SIREN! That Scandinavian temptress so lovingly batting her Nordic eyelashes at me and whispering softly in my ear, "Come on, Kevin....you know you want me."
Yes....yes...I confess -- resistance was futile!! Those 28 shades of the softest Au Ver a Soie -- those gentle hues of blue and green .. those luscious deep ruby red bands ... THE BIRDS! Come on - you know I cannot resist BIRDS! (It's so unfair the way she teased me, I tell you!)
Sure, I had some caveats to my initial "no new stash" assertion - such as, I'd allow myself to continue my purchases of a couple of series of charts I had started stitching in 2013 (Blackbird Designs' Loose Feather series, SamSarah's "Winds of Change" series, to name a few) BUT I really thought I'd at least make it through the end of January without any other MAJOR stash enhancement.
(You say "hoarding," I say "stash enhancement" - Let's call the whole thing off!)
And so, making her way here to South Florida along the great continental USPS route from EBAY to my eagerly awaiting mitts, may I introduce to you: Miss Anniken Simensen of The Scarlet Letter collection of reproduction samplers. She wears that emblazoned "A" so proudly.
Beautiful!!! No wonder you couldn't resist her!! :D I'm sure you'll have hours of fun with it... This Ebay malarkey is terrible, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI think it's what Edgar refers to as "the bay of evil " ha ha ha
DeleteSo you're trying to draw the rest of us into temptation too, huh? lol! I love this one, and I have to go check to see if I have her. I know I've admired her before. Hooray for succumbing to temptation! :D
ReplyDeleteWell, I have been known as an "enabler " over on Facebook. Ha ha ha
DeleteWhat a beauty! I applaud your choice :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Beautiful design :D
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to reality : )
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha Shirlee!! You got that right!
DeleteWho could resist her Kevin? The top band looks almost like quilting.
ReplyDeleteBeth, isn't that neat? I guess that technique is common to Scandinavian stitching as I saw a Norwegian sampler that uses those satin stitches to create the same type of design.
DeleteShe is gorgeous, I brought her home last year...... she is stunning for sure!!! I look forward to seeing your progress!!!
ReplyDeleteAha! She tempted another one before me, I see ! Have you stitched this one yet? I know I'll need to start her soon.
DeleteLOL...you call it hoarding, I call it part of my retirement savings plan.
ReplyDeleteOh, you mean we're actually supposed to save that money for retirement? ;-)
DeleteSometimes we just can't resist, right?! :) A beautiful choice! The SLs are hard to resist. I am a fan of birds too. Looking forward to your progress, I am sure this one will be on my list too! Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteGreat new chart Kevin. I'm surprised that any of us can resist buying new stash.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Kevin, Kevin, Kevin. Oh well. ;)
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhh Kevin... You, you, enabler YOU!!! I couldn't resist and clicked on the link to Miss Anniken's website. So many samplers called to me.. But my will power is strong!!! That and the jaw-dropping cost of the charts. [LOL] I can see why you cruise the Bay of Evil (as Edgar puts it) to add to your hoard... er... I mean stash. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAh yes, Jan .. I do seem to have that effect on people. Just like The Pied Piper. I have to tell you, though, the SL charts/kits are well worth the expense. And after you take the plunge and get one it's like you just NEED to have another, and another...
DeleteOh but she is beautiful Kevin!
ReplyDeleteYou are SO funny!!! Love your blog -

DeleteSometimes you just gotta have it :) Can't wait to see progress on her!
ReplyDeleteI am on a stash diet for 2014. Taking part in Stitching from Satsh and have alotted a monthly budget of $25 or less a month. I hope to try and follow that plan, we sahll see Hehehe :)
Yep - I committed to that as well. See how well I've done with that? Lol!
DeleteShe is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe've all done it! It's all good. :)
ReplyDeleteI think she's worth falling off the wagon for!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunner ~ no wonder you gave in to her call! A belated Happy Birthday to you and a lovely finish on your LK piece!
ReplyDeleteShe is rather lovely, I can see why you succumbed
ReplyDeleteI like how women always have to wear the 'A' even though it's the men who are weak. ;-) Have fun with her now!
ReplyDeleteOMG....of course you must have her...exquisite. I must admit, I fell off...way off...at least, this month. Perhaps next month I can stay true to my budget....yea, we'll see!

Oh Kevin - who could have resisted this beauty? Simply gorgeous. And yes I call it stash enhancement too, my kids will call it hordeing when they have to clean out my house someday - LOL!
ReplyDeleteDon't beat yourself up, Kevin ~ you lasted 27 days! :-)
ReplyDeleteI know that I could not last thus I don't subject myself to those "no stash" restriction.
Beautiful design...You certainly select the good ones!
Hey you're right! I made it three whole weeks ( almost four!!)
DeleteLOL She is a beauty! I've not seen her before and I can see why you had to have her. Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Kevin you didn't stand a chance!!!! She is a pretty Nordic beauty!!!! And who can resist silks............
ReplyDeleteWell I know I can't! I saw that notation of "includes 28 skeins of AVAS" and I was drooling like Pavlov's dogs! :-)
DeleteYou are hilarious! I just couldn't say no to any new stash so I don't. Enjoy your stash!
ReplyDeleteShe will be a great addition to your stash!
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty. And she is in The Plan, of sorts. So Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteExactly what I told myself as I hit the Buy It Now button - lol!
DeleteI can so fully and totally understand you - she's a beauty! Have fun stitching her.
ReplyDeleteI too would have a hard time passing her up! She's a beauty with all those lovely colours, birds and motifs. I didn't commit to the stitch from stash since I knew I would blow it! Good luck with not buying anything more!!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog! You very clearly explained how there was no hope to resist this beautiful purchase. Enjoy lots of guilt-free stitching hours! I'm also in Stitch from Stash and it's getting harder every day to resist buying something new!
ReplyDeleteKevin, soy débil tambien, me has recordado a mí misma, jijiji
ReplyDeleteAhora estoy completamente enamorada de los diseños de Maja...
Un saludo, me encanta tu blog!
